New start for Paintbox

After four years of running our parent and toddler messy play group, Paintbox, and meeting every Thursday we've decided to pass the leadership over to a group of parents who plan to keep it going in partnership with Ocean Children's Centre. It's provided a good service for local carers with pre-school children and a great place to meet others living in the Stepney community. Here are some of the things we remember with fondness:
1) the volunteers - Sarah, Haizhong, Parvin, Yasmin, Shamima, Caroline, Karen, Mashuda, Jane, Raki. Thanks for all your efforts!
2) the users - to the hundreds of parents and children who attended over the 4 years.
3) the activities - mud, spaghetti, wall-paper paste, grass, kidney beans, glue, glitter, paint, water, sand, rice, leaves, twigs, playdough, scissors, paper, cardboard, cotton wool etc.
4) the amazing diversity of users - Bangladeshi, English, Somali, Australian, Chilean, Chinese, Scottish, Irish, American, Columbian, Cypriot, Iraqi, Pakistani, Indian, Bulgarian and a few more we've no doubt forgotten about.

It has been an ever-present part of the hope:asha community since our inception in 2003 and letting it go was a hard decision to make. However, we will now have more time to engage in other community ventures and Paintbox will hopefully find a new lease of life in the safe hands of others.
