We considered the 'good news' in relation to housing in Stepney on Sunday (the photo shows our prayers in the very fabric of our community). We wondered if Jesus lived in Stepney in 2012 his telling of the parable might have gone like this! (Matthew 7:24-27)
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise developer who built his block of flats on affordability for ordinary people. The financial storm came down, the jobs dried up and the hard economic times beat against that block; yet it enabled the community to stand, because it had its foundation on people. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like the foolish developer who built his block of flats on profit alone. The financial storm came down, the jobs dried up and the hard economic times beat against that block, and it became an empty, soulless place that provided homes for the rich few who could afford it, and it contributed to the community falling with a great crash.
